The UMass Lowell Department of Art and Design is thrilled to present the Spring 2024 Animation & Interactive Media + Studio Art BFA Exhibition. The exhibition will be on display in the University Gallery, the Mahoney Student Gallery, and the Mahoney hallways from May 2-11, 2024. There will be a screening of the Animation & Interactive Media projects and an awards ceremony for all the BFA candidates on Thursday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Smith Ballroom (Coburn Hall rm. 255) on 850 Broadway Street, followed by a reception in Mahoney Hall at 870 Broadway St. These events are free, accessible, and open to all.

The BFA candidates in Studio Art and Animation & Interactive Media hail from Ayer, Belmont, Billerica, Charlton, Dracut, Lexington, Lowell, Methuen, North Andover, Pembroke, Westford, Wilbraham, Wilmington (all in MA), Hudson, NH and Ahmedabad, India

Their projects include 2D and 3D animation, virtual reality, drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture. There are proof-of concept trailers, pitch bibles, digital illustration, an illustrated poem book, a biology themed computer game with punkish vibes, an animated mission to rescue a lost sister, and a multi-player adventure game about a spooky summer camp. There are works that explore female identity and experience, mixed media works featuring Irish Pagan lore and witchcraft, sculpture made from the detritus of everyday life, and delicate ceramic pieces showcasing the power and vulnerability of what it is to live in a female body. These projects are the culmination of their year-long capstone projects for the BFA degree.
