UMass Lowell is pleased to announce that two new optional features will be available in HR Direct — Employee Self-Service for self-designation of sex and pronouns.

Sex self-designation includes the option of selecting “non-binary” as one of the options.

Employees will have the option of identifying their preferred pronouns in a new field that has been created for this purpose.

To access in HR Direct, navigate to the Employee Self Service page, click the Personal Details tile, and then the Sex/Pronouns tile. Please note that an HR Direct change to sex designation will be reflected in UMass Lowell HR Direct records only and will not change this information with external companies or agencies.

This new functionality is part of a larger system-wide upgrade referred to as the “Inclusive Identity Project.” Please visit Sex & Pronouns Helpful Information - UMass President's Office for more information or questions regarding gender identity and HR Direct.
